Mandate

  • To consider and decide appeals arising from the decisions of the Commissioner for Refugee Affairs under the Refugees Act, 2006(repealed).

Core functions

The functions of RAB are as follows:

  • To hear and determine Appeals arising from the decisions of the Commissioner for Refugee Affairs;
  • To issue and verify appeal forms to manage appeal processes;
  • To initiate, develop and implement in collaboration with other stakeholders refugee law and policy development;
  • To sensitize stakeholders on the existence of RAB and its operations;
  • To conduct research and investigation into specific matters of appeal;
  • To collaborate with Regional and International community in seeking solution to emerging issues on refugee matters.
