Nakuru and Eldoret Refugee Sensitization Workshops
In response to the significant legal changes brought about by the repeal and replacement of the Refugees Act 2006 with the Refugees Act 2021, the Refugee Appeal Board has embarked on a mission to educate refugees and asylum seekers in Nakuru about the appeal process and their interconnected rights.
Collaborating with partners from the Department of Refugee Services (DRS), the Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK), and HIAS Trust of Kenya, the Refugee Appeal Board organized a sensitization event at the Red Cross Grounds in Nakuru. During this workshop, attendees gained vital insights into the Refugees Act 2021, the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Process, the Appeal Process, and contemporary issues within refugee management, such as trafficking and smuggling of refugees.
This event marks the commencement of a series of similar sensitization workshops that the Refugee Appeal Board intends to conduct for refugees and asylum seekers across the country.
